Today we meet the emerging and quite youthful Japanese lyric soprano Asako Tamura. She makes her Houston debut this evening at the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall with a program of Art Songs and Opera Arias. We also hear the performance that took home the third prize in the Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition for 'cellist Dane Johansen . . .

'Cellist Dane Johansen hails from Alaska and is currently pursuing graduate studies at the Julliard School. He was the 3rd Prize winner in the recent Houston Symphony/Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition and today we hear his prize-winning performance of the Cello Concerto No.1 in E-flat, Op. 107 by Dmitri Shostakovich.  Listen  Download
