November 21, 2003: Bowfire -- There will be violinists and fiddlers galore on stage tonight at the Hobby Center in downtown Houston, as Society for the Performing Arts presents Bowfire, a ten-member ensemble of string players, who among them cover most of the musical traditions for their instrument, from classical, jazz and gypsy violin, to bluegrass, Celtic and old-timey fiddling. Canadian jazz violinist Lenny Solomon, the organizer and artistic director of Bowfire, talks with KUHF's Bob Stevenson about the group's eclectic approach to the violin repertoire. Performance: Friday, November 21, 2003, 7:00 PM, Sarofim Hall, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, Bagby Street, downtown Houston, TX. Tickets: 713-227-4772 (4SPA), on-line at www.spahouston,org, or at the Hobby Center box office before the show. Lenny Solomon will give a pre-concert talk about Bowfire and their music, beginning at 6:30 PM at the Hobby Center.  Click here to listen.
