public radio news and fine arts twenty four hours a day from houston, texas
The KUHF NewsLab is a relatively new effort to provide young journalists with the professional tools and instruction to become better radio reporters. A journalism incubator of sorts, the NewsLab provides an environment where the reporters of tomorrow learn writing, editing, voicing and production techniques from KUHF’s professional broadcasters. Some NewsLab stories are broadcast during the station’s newscasts. KUHF NewsLab candidates must be enrolled in college or be recent college graduates. Candidates must also complete at least one semester of an unpaid KUHF news internship to be considered for the NewsLab program. In addition to producing on-air stories, candidates receive a stipend for their efforts.
Candidates for the NewsLab are chosen by KUHF news management. For more information, please contact NewsLab Coordinator Melissa Galvez at mgalvez@kuhf.org or News Director Jack Williams at jwilliams@kuhf.org.
